Renda Garner | Director of Higher Ed
and Community Connections
Renda is the Director of Higher Ed and Community Connections for Missional Wisdom Foundation. Her higher education experience spans the past 20 or so years at three community college systems and one university. Early in her higher education career, her focus was on providing advising and counseling services to students who were served through the disability services department and the federal funded TRIO grant program. She has also directed several programs including Teacher Education, Dual Credit, and Distance Learning. Her most recent work in higher education was focused on quality online course design and delivery, faculty training, learning management system administration, accreditation, and universal design and accessibility. Throughout her career in higher education, her driving motivation has always been to support, prepare, and empower all of those whom she serves.
She has also been an online instructor for more than 10 years and is a Master Reviewer for Quality Matters which is a nonprofit group that conducts national reviews of online courses using a specific set of standards. Since 2007 Renda has reviewed over 50 courses and has served as the Team Chair on over 40 of those course reviews. She is also involved with her regional and state distance learning associations and is currently serving as one of the Board of Directors of the Texas Distance Learning Association.
Renda lives in Athens, TX with her husband Jeff and their 4 children (19 year old twin daughters, another daughter who is 8, and a son who is 7). Although they have only been inAthens for a short time, she is very involved in her community by serving as a School Board Trustee for Athens ISD, an Advocate for the Chamber of Commerce, and is a recent graduate of the Athens Leadership Institute. She and her family are avid soccer fans (and players) and they enjoy spending their free time outdoors at their home on Lake Athens.
