Several members of the Missional Wisdom Foundation will be participating in an Anam Cara retreat this weekend - training in missional, monastic spiritual direction. Anam Cara means "soul friend." It draws upon the wealth of the ancient Christian practice of soul tending and offers guidance for learning and practicing spiritual direction within the new monastic and missional church context. Anam Cara trains participants to listen for God's presence in the life of others and their own lives, within and beyond the church.

The first cohort of Anam Cara began last year in October. Participants will go through six training retreats over the course of two years. They will be in their third training retreat, where they will be exploring "Tending the Soul during the Dark Night Journey and Seasons of Impasse."
