Celebration

For the space at the table
We celebrate and give thanks
For the stories that arrive
Important to be heard
For the bellies and hearts that come hungry
Hoping to be filled

For the seats at the table
We celebrate and give thanks
For the diversity and abundance they hold
For the creation and creativity they uplift
For the body and bodies they witness

For the journeys we come from
Towards the journeys we go
We celebrate and give thanks
For the intersections made here
Among sacrament and story
Together at the table

For arrival at the table
We celebrate and give thanks
To be here, among each other
A gift to gather in this space
A gift to go from this place

For the communion at the table
We celebrate and give thanks
For the re-memberance that occurs
With bread, wine, and fellowship
Reminding us to be membered again to ourselves, God, and one another

At the table we remember
God’s presence is at hand
Though (perhaps) not felt
God’s promise is coming
Though (maybe) not seen
God’s providence is abundant
Though (yet) not imagined
Re-member ourselves to our good news

For the way our gathering at the table
Creates us
Sustains us
Nourishes us
And sends us
We celebrate, and give thanks
