Nikki

Nugget

My daughter and her husband adopted Nugget when he was two. Nugget is not the brightest bulb in our pack. In fact, I call him the “50 First Dates” dog.

Tank

Tank is one of the senior members of our pack. He is also the smartest dog we have ever had in any version of our pack.

Duke

Duke is the largest member of our pack. He’s a black Lab mix weighing in at around ninety-five pounds (currently under orders to trim down some).

Basher

Basher is one of the rescues in our pack that we got to name. He is also the only dog that didn’t come from some sort of rescue/shelter agency.

I have the great privilege to live near both of my adult children. Each of the three households contains dogs as part of the family.

We have now attended two Julian Way dinners with this young man, Cade Ford, and his parents, Lance and Kim. As of this writing, Cade is a 17 year old high school student. He is connecting with Justin, Lisa, and the Julian Way because his family is beginning to see that thought should be given now to what a more independent life beyond high school might look like for Cade.

I am Denise Crane, one of the new leaders of the Missional Wisdom Foundation. I should probably start by explaining that I hate being in the spotlight. It’s just not my cup of tea. That said, after I got over the knot in my stomach at being asked to write about myself for this week’s spotlight, I realized that it gives me an amazing opportunity to talk about how wonderful it is to get to walk with these people who make up the Missional Wisdom Foundation and all the other people who journey alongside us. That is worth talking about!
